The composer of this melody grew up singing as a choir boy in Philadelphia, later working as an organist in Chicago for silent pictures. He spent most of his career as a composer in Hollywood, including his work for the Disney studios.
In 1935 Albert Hay Malotte composed a musical setting of the biblical Lord’s Prayer. Though set to music many times before, his is the setting that has achieved greatest popularity having been recorded by many artists. Notably it was recorded by Andrea Bocelli in 2009 with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
