This song arrangement with words by Samuel Medley (1738-1799) takes its title from the first line of the chorus, “And above the rest this note shall swell.” It proclaims in the last line, “My Jesus has done all things well.” Of the four verses that Medley wrote, verses 1 and 4 with chorus are presented in this musical setting to emphasize the historical fact that “Jesus, my redeemer, lives!”
