Consider the authority of God. Ponder what it might sound like to hear God’s voice speak the world into existence. Remember God’s answer to Job’s bold questions in Job 38 where He says, "Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?” The word awesome does an injustice to the magnitude of God’s might, to the “thunder in His footsteps and lightning in His fists.”

Rich Mullins wrote about the unfathomable greatness of God in this song, and this is evident in the two verses and chorus.
