Chris Tomlin has written many of the most popular praise and worship songs of the last two decades, including “Forever,” a spirited paraphrase of Psalm 136.  This majestic Psalm, used in Old Testament temple worship, features a distinctive “call and response” pattern between priest and congregation that is mirrored in both the song and this arrangement.  As the priest recounts the attributes and acts of God, the congregation responds to each line of the Psalm with the repeated phrase “His love endures forever,” reminding us that everything that God is and does is motivated by His love for us.
