Program Notes:

“To infinity and beyond” is a catch phrase used frequently today, and with God’s omnipotent love there are absolutely no limitations. As the first verse, written by John Oxenham, states:

In Christ there is no East or West,

In him no South or North;

But one great fellowship of love

Throughout the whole wide earth.

We can all be one in him regardless of who we are or where we are….we can fellowship in his love. The last verse is the verse that is preferred when the tune (“St. Peter”, by Alexander R. Reingle) is stated near the end of the piece and is appropriate both as a finale to the piece and a grand statement of fellowship in God’s love:

In Christ now meet both east and west,

In him meet south and north.

All Christly souls are one in him

Throughout the whole wide earth.
