Program Notes:
“My All Is on the Altar” was written by Mary D. James (1810-1883) and Phoebe P. Knapp (1839-1908) at a Methodist camp meeting in 1869. Holiness was the theme of the camp, and this hymn was dedicated to all whose hearts adopt its language of entire consecration.
The words are very personal making them ideal for this solo arrangement of the first verse and chorus:
My body, soul and spirit,
Jesus, I give to thee,
A consecrated offering,
Thine evermore to be.
My all is on the altar,
I'm waiting for the fire;
Waiting, waiting, waiting,
I'm waiting for the fire.
