In 1830 Ray Palmer (1808-1887), at the age of 22, was a recent graduate of Yale University. As a young poet and essayist, he managed to bring his first hymn, “My Faith Looks Up to Thee” to the attention of the great hymn writer, Dr. Lowell Mason (1792-1872). Mason set the words to music and the hymn has since become beloved world-wide.
