Program Notes:

The much-loved hymn “Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven,” written by Henry Francis Lyte as a paraphrase of Psalm 103, was first published in his book “The Spirit of the Psalms, Adapted to Christian Worship”, in 1834.  Soon after publication, the composers, John Goss, set the original four verses to the familiar melody.

James Curnow uses the strong melodic line in this fine arrangement, which includes a fanfare introduction and ending.  The setting may also be used for congregational singing.
