This is a setting of the chorus, “Silently Now I Wait for Thee.”  It is part of a three-verse song, “Open My Eyes, That I May See,” by Clara Scott, who, in the latter part of the 19th century, taught music at the Ladies’ Seminary in Lyons, Iowa.  She was a prolific composer of vocal and instrumental music, including a book of anthems, The Royal Anthem Book, published in 1882.

The chorus is much more familiar to many Christians than are the verses.  It has often been used as their prayer as they have come before their Lord.
