Composer: Andrew Miller III

Program Notes:

The arrangement presents two variations on the uplifting tune Salzburg. The text associated with this hymn is by Philip Doddridge (1702-1751). Doddridge penned more than 400 hymns in his lifetime of which O God of Bethel is the most well-known. This hymn explores the way that God has provided for his people in the past, and will continue to provide for them in the future. The expression “God of Bethel” is only used once in the Bible, in Genesis 31:13, when God reminds Jacob that he will guide his life. We can trust that God will guide us in a similar fashion, as we sense his provision for our lives.
