Composer: Robert Snelson
Program Notes:
“We Three Kings” is a popular carol sung throughout the Christmas season and especially on Epiphany. Written in 1857 by John Henry Hopkins Jr. (1820-1891), it tells the story of Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection in five short verses.
We three kings of Orient are;
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of light,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.
This arrangement of a single verse and chorus is reprinted from the 2006 AIES collection, Christmas Spirit, as an individual title.
