Program Notes:

Imagine a beautiful sunny day along the shores of Galilee as Jesus walks along the water’s edge, quietly reflecting on His ministry and the things to come. This must have been the author’s thoughts as she wrote this lovely text that captures the serenity of the moment. Catherine Baird (1895-1984), author of the text, was a Salvation Army officer (minister) and her song is probably not known outside of the Salvation Army, but by making the listener aware of the text, the music will have an impact and be more relevant to everyone.

This setting uses the melody “Fewster” as the basis for developing the thoughts behind the first and last verse of the hymn. The music concludes in a glorious, triumphant manner, to reflect the message of the beautiful text.
